Mission Statement

The Learning Disabilities Directorate of Mersey Care NHS exists to provide a specialist health service to men and women in Liverpool and Sefton who have learning disabilities.

We work with men and women to ensure they get the health care that they need in order to keep their minds and their bodies safe. We also make sure that men and women with a learning disability are able to use the same health services as everyone else.

The Directorate contributes to the planning and development of comprehensive community services, and strives to:

  • Provide sufficiently skilled support to enable individuals with a disability to remain within their community

  • Offer sufficient benefits through being a full, active member of that community

  • Promote peoples Human Rights
