Becoming a new type of NHS organisation, a Foundation Trust (FT), provides an opportunity for Mersey Care to transform the way in which service users, carers, staff, members of the public and other stakeholders can be involved and engaged in the planning, development and monitoring of services through the creation of a Trust membership and a Members' Council. A membership will enable the Trust to be an outward facing, locally ‘owned’ organisation.
The development of a large, diverse, representative membership is a natural progression for the organisation in building and maintaining effective links with the community that we serve and the staff that work with us, ensuring the direct involvement of stakeholders in the organisation’s corporate governance and decision making processes.

Members may choose their level of involvement with the Trust and there are three levels of membership - informed; involved; or active.
