FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST AND RESPONSE

REF:  MCT/FOI/2019/5405

Further to your Freedom of Information request in respect of inpatient care for youth mental health services, please find a response from the Trust below.

Mersey Care NHS Foundation does not provide a CAMH service but as requested the trust has provided data for all under the age of 25 years of age.

  1. How many inpatients did you have receiving treatment in each month from February 2019 to May 2020?

Please see attached

  1. How many patients were discharged from inpatient care in each month from February 2019 to May 2020?

     Please see attached

  1. Were any of these patient discharges a direct result of covid-19?

None of the patients have been discharged early. Any discharges have taken place in line with the individual patient care pathway.

All discharges have been facilitated when the service user no longer requires admission to hospital and their recovery can continue whilst supported in the community.

  1. Did you restrict parent or family visits during lockdown?

The trust has followed the national guidance in relation to visitors and has suspended all face to face visits.  The staff introduced the facility for Skype visits across all areas and access to this is agreed on an individual patient basis by the patient’s clinical team.

  1. Did you test and isolate new admissions to inpatient wards?

All service users are now swabbed to check for COVID positive status on admission and encouraged to isolate until such time as a negative swab is received.

  1. How many of your inpatients were diagnosed with coronavirus?

One patient between the age of 17-25.

  1. How many of your patients have had their discharge dates delayed due to covid-19?

There have been three patients who have had a short delay to their discharge due to Covid-19. This as a result of travel and visiting restrictions affecting transition care plans. Two have since been discharged and one is due to imminently transfer.
