Foundation Trust Application

Our plans to become an NHS foundation trust

We're moving towards becoming an NHS Foundation Trust (FT). If our application is successful, we hope to gain FT status from 1 April 2016.

Foundation trusts are a different type of NHS organisation; they are accountable to local communities through their members and governors and have more autonomy from Government.

We need Trust members to nominate themselves for election to their council of governors, which helps oversee the Trust on behalf of FT members. Governors represent the interests of members as a whole and the interests of the local community in ensuring the services we provide meet their needs.

Members this is your opportunity to join in and make your voice heard. We have ambitious plans for the Trust - but we need your support to make them happen.

You can become a member by emailing: membership@merseycare.nhs.uk

I'm interested in becoming a governor. What do I do next?

The nomination process for members to stand as governors runs from 23 December 2015 to 25 January 2016. The election will run from 15 February to 20 March 2016.

Attend one of our governor awareness training sessions dates available here.

You will need to complete the nomination form and submit it by the closing date. The nomination form and our governor awareness pack are available:
