The orthopaedic Rehabilitation at Home Team aims to support adults to achieve independence through intensive, short term therapy sessions. The service is delivered in the home following planned or unplanned orthopaedic surgery at Aintree University Hospital Trust.
This team supports adult patients usually following knee and hip joint replacements (planned or following trauma) and fracture neck or femur surgery. The Rehabilitation at Home team select patients from Aintree wards according to agreed set criteria.
Patients may return home as early as two to three days post operation. The service provides occupational therapy, physiotherapy input at home and loans equipment to patients for up to three months.
The service delivers within the Liverpool city boundary, South Sefton and Knowsley.
The service is available Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm with individualised appointments outside these hours if necessary. The Rehab at Home Team undertakes needs led weekend visits.
Patients having hip and knee surgery in Aintree Hospital with a GP who are within the catchment area of the Rehabilitation at Home team, are referred by the multi disciplinary Team (MDT) at the hospital.
