We lost 41 appointments in August due to patients not attending, at a cost of £792. This is an enormous waste of NHS resources and impacts on staff time managements and patient waiting times. If you need to reschedule and cancel appointments please call our appointment line: 0151 247 6555

Domiciliary Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare Service

The domiciliary service is available to all people who require sexual and/or reproductive healthcare but are unable to access mainstream Abacus Clinics. Referrals must meet the following criteria to ensure that the service is provided to those people in real need of a domiciliary service:

  • People with mental and/or physical disability which make attendance at clinic difficult
  • People whose carer responsibilities make it difficult for them to attend the sexual and reproductive healthcare clinics.
  • People whose local sexual and reproductive healthcare clinic is not within walking distance of home, and have no access to any form of transport.
  • People whose language, culture or religion may cause difficulties in accessing sexual and reproductive healthcare clinics
  • People who are motivated to seek out sexual and reproductive healthcare services, but also need assistance in order to comply with contraceptive methods
  • Emergency home circumstances that prevent the person from accessing mainstream sexual and reproductive healthcare clinics

If you require any further information in regards to this service, please contact Abacus on 0151 247 6555.

Waiting times: Waiting times at our clinics can be variable. This is a drop in service so we cannot predict how many clients may come through the door. Consultations times can vary depending on need. Please bear in mind that clinicians must fill in medical records after each consultation.

Clinic suspensions: On occasions it may be necessary to suspend clinic registration for short periods due to high numbers of patients accessing the drop in service.  This ensures we maintain patient safety at all times.
