About My Results

How long will it take to get my results?

It will take between 10 and 14 days from the day the lab receive your test sample.

One of our team will then contact you with your result by text or letter (it's up to you!).

You will need to give your date of birth when you're contacted to prove that you are the right person (this helps keep the test confidential).

Our telephone number is withheld so it will show up on your phone as a private number.

What does my result mean?

Negative: This means that the bacteria that cause Chlamydia and/or Gonorrhoea was not found in the sample you provided.  If you have had unprotected sex with a new partner in the last two weeks, it will mean you need to repeat the test.

Positive: The bacteria that cause Chlamydia and/or Gonorrhoea was found in the sample you provided.

Equivocal: This means you will need a re-test.  The bacteria that cause Chlamydia and/or Gonorrhoea have been found in the sample that you provide but only in very small quantities which may not be due to infection.

No test is 100% accurate. To increase the chance of an accurate result you should not urinate one hour before providing your sample.  If you have any concerns please contact one of our nurses on 0151 247 6520.
