Crisis Support : Mersey Care’s 24 Hour Response Team for Young People
When a child or young person is in emotional or mental health crisis, timely support can make all the difference. That’s why Mersey Care’s 24-hour response team is here - providing urgent care and reassurance to young people up to the age of 18 across Halton, Knowsley, St Helens, and Warrington.
Whether a young person is struggling with emotional distress, behavioural challenges, or mental health difficulties affecting their school, family or social life, the team is ready to respond. There’s no wrong front door - emergency referrals are welcomed from professionals, parents, carers, and the young people themselves.
What the team offers:
- Emergency assessment within four hours, including risk evaluation and safety planning
- Brief intervention and home treatment to stabilise and support recovery
- Advice and consultation for families, schools, social care and other professionals
This service ensures that children and young people in crisis are not alone. The team works collaboratively with families and professionals to keep young people safe and supported.
If you or someone you know needs urgent mental health support, call NHS 111 and select the mental health option.

You can also access NHS 111 online via: 111.nhs.uk. If you aren't able to make the call yourself, anyone can call on your behalf.
