A number of exciting opportunities have arisen for the right candidates to be part of a place-based Tier 3 Long COVID Assessment and Treatment Service for adults, which was established in response to the COVID-19 global pandemic.

Long COVID is a term commonly used to describe post COVID-19 syndrome which includes signs and symptoms that continue or develop after acute COVID-19. It includes both ongoing symptomatic COVID-19 (from 4 to 12 weeks) and post-COVID-19 syndrome (12 weeks or more) (NICE, 2020).

Mersey Care, as lead provider, is working with system partners to ensure the development of a high quality and outcome focussed, holistic Long COVID Tier 3 Service to serve the populations of Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, and Knowsley.

The service will bring together a multi-disciplinary team of professionals to support people living with the long-term impacts of COVID-19 (Long COVID) and be a single point of access for all Tier 3 primary care referrals within the locality.

We’re looking to establish an enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team consisting of both clinical and non-clinical colleagues who thrive on innovation and challenge, to provide clinical expertise and leadership within locality-based hubs.

The successful candidates will embrace the challenge of leading the delivery and ongoing development of their local service and will play a vital role in supporting integrated, co-ordinated, comprehensive, seamless, person-centred care, based on the principles of shared decision making for people living with or experiencing the impact of Long COVID symptoms.

You will need to be an excellent communicator as well as being resourceful, flexible and above all, ready to innovate and deliver through new working relationships with partner organisations.

In addition, and as the service develops, there will be the opportunity to engage in research, training and development across the Cheshire and Mersey footprint; to inform future delivery of evidence-based care.

The team in each place will be led by a GP who will provide medical leadership and oversight to clinical staff operating within a hub. There are several vacancies in each place as follows.
