While you are waiting for cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), there are resources available that can help you make a start with managing some of your difficulties.

Websites

The following are useful websites that have information, activities and exercises to address a wide variety of problems. They are free to access and user friendly if you have access to the internet.

  • Get Self Help has free CBT self help materials covering a wide variety of topics, including binge eating
  • Mental Health - navigate to the Mental Health A-Z section on the homepage for access to information about mental health problems and further information about CBT
  • Beat, the UK's Eating Disorder Charity  is an organisation that helps people with eating disorders, including supporting those with emotional overeating.

Useful Reading

The following are some books specific to issues around weight. All are easy to read and many have activities and exercises for you to try. Most can be borrowed from your local library or can be purchased online.
