Who are we?
The Mental Health Support Team is an NHS service providing mental health support to primary and secondary schools:
- We work across Halton, Knowsley, St Helens and Warrington
- We help young people to learn strategies and new ways of taking care of their mental wellbeing
- We provide interventions to pupils struggling with anxiety, low mood or behavioural difficulties
- We also deliver whole school approaches across schools and colleges.

Whole School Approaches
This is a targeted offer to help schools promote and enhance the mental health and wellbeing provision on offer. These will be discussed during your consultation sessions and can be booked for the whole year in advance to help you with planning.

Interventions
These interventions are subject to a discussion at a consultation with appropriate consent and referral. As with all MHST intervention, young people need to be suitable for low intensity interventions, ideally with no ongoing environmental stressors, no risk.
We will consider referrals for young people receiving lower level social care support providing their home life is settled and they are fully able to access the intervention indicated by your MHST.

Extra support and guidance
This is a targeted offer to help school promote and enhance the mental health and wellbeing provision on offer. These resources are readily available, updated by the MHST, and shared with your school.
