What inspired you to follow your current career path?
I was first inspired to pursue a career in pharmacy during my GCSEs, when my dad arranged a placement for me with the Pharmacy team at Wythenshawe Hospital. That experience opened my eyes to the variety within the profession, and as someone who was passionate about science, it felt like a perfect fit.
I went on to study at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) and took a student role at Aintree, where I was responsible for ensuring the dispensing robot functioned over the weekends—an early introduction to the intersection of pharmacy and technology. From there, I moved to Wirral University Teaching Hospital and became involved in file build testing for a new EPMA system, which deepened my interest in digital pharmacy.
When I joined Mersey Care, I started as the pharmacist at Clock View Hospital, working with ward based automation cabinets. I later covered maternity leave as an EPMA pharmacist, and that role has continued to evolve. Looking back, I’ve consistently found myself drawn to the digital side of pharmacy, and it’s become a core part of my career journey.
Pharmacy is such a varied profession, for me I've consistently been drawn to the digital side - it's become a core part of my journey at Mersey Care.
What gives you job satisfaction?
I love when systems which are implemented really do assist teams in improving their productivity and efficiency and I really enjoy looking for new innovations.
