Mersey Care has once again shown its dedication to the armed forces community by resigning the Armed Forces Covenant during a ceremony at the Trust's V7 building.
Led by Chris Lyons, the Trust's armed forces executive sponsor, and attended by Jan Cox QVRM DL, Defence Relationship Manager for the North West and Isle of Man, the covenant was co-signed on behalf of the Armed Forces by Lieutenant Colonel Katherine Sanderson.
"We're honoured to reaffirm our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant," said Chris. "This, along with Mersey Care’s re-accreditation as a Veteran Aware Trust back in March 2025, highlights the significant – and ongoing - work undertaken to support our armed forces community, both through our services, and as an employer.”

The ceremony was a chance to update the Trust’s pledge and celebrate Mersey Care’s commitment to the shared values of the Armed Forces Covenant. Jan Cox expressed her appreciation, saying, "It was a great privilege to witness Mersey Care resigning their Armed Forces Covenant. Thank you to all concerned, I am honoured to work in partnership with you."
Mersey Care is recognised as a gold standard organisation in the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS). This accolade acknowledges the Trust’s dedication to being a supportive, forces-friendly employer.
Looking ahead to the Trust’s next review in 2026, Mersey Care remains committed to supporting the armed forces community and driving improvements across the NHS.
