What is incontinence?

Incontinence can be defined as an uncontrollable leak from either the bladder or the bowel. Whenever it occurs, it is a distressing and embarrassing condition, which undermines quality of life, impinging on the independence and dignity of the individual. Some people may not experience leaks but will suffer from bladder or bowel symptoms which are distressing. The community continence nurse specialists offer treatments with advice and support for those with bladder or bowel problems.

Assessment

You will be assessed in one of our clinics, or in your own home (or nursing or residential care setting). If you are registered housebound, arrangements can be made for assessment. After assessment, we will develop and agree on a treatment plan with you.
