We provide advice and support on malnutrition and supplements, working with your local dietetic team and your GP.
We will review your prescription and monitor your use of supplements and support you with a food based ideas, advice and support. We will help you with your wellbeing and social needs and signpost you to support with your nutritional care and future review. We will work with your local dietetic team and GP to make sure you are supported wherever you live.
Mersey Care’s Nutrition Review and Support Service, across Cheshire and Merseyside provides a consistent, clinically led approach to nutritional care.
- We focus on ‘food first’ strategies, helping you to understand food, and provide cost effective prescribing
- There will be better outcomes for patients and significant cost savings for the NHS.
Cheshire and Merseyside spent approximately £18.7 million on oral nutritional supplements (ONS) in 2025, with variation in prescribing and routine reviews. We aim to improve how nutritional support products are prescribed and monitored.
We will:
- Support reviews of residents on ONS
- Support a food based approach
- Help develop nutrition care plans
- Look at wider issues affecting nutrition
- Link residents to other services if needed.
