Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust are part of the Armed forces Covenant.
The NHS supports the health commitments of the Armed Forces Covenant, which is a promise by the nation to ensure that those who serve or who have served in the UK armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly.
These commitments are:
- The armed forces community should enjoy the same standard of, and access to, healthcare as that received by any other UK citizen in the area they live in.
- Family members should retain their place on any NHS waiting list, if moved around the UK due to the service person being posted.
- Veterans should receive priority treatment for a condition that relates to their service, subject to clinical need.
- Those injured in service should be cared for in a way that reflects the nation’s moral obligation to them, by healthcare professionals who understand the armed forces culture.

A Trust wide armed forces oversight group of staff and service user members of the armed forces community, contributes to service developments, training, and information.
We also have an Armed Forces network which provides peer support and works to promote a better understanding of the Armed Forces Community across the whole Trust thereby creating a more supportive and inclusive working environment.

We have a dedicated armed forces lead who champions the Armed Forces Community across the Trust, and we collaborate with local and national armed forces community charities.
