Mersey Cares’ Easter Egg Appeal a huge success!
Mersey Cares’, the official charity of the Trust, wants to thank everyone who contributed to the success of their annual Easter Egg Appeal to support children in care across the region.
Donations received to collections points in Knowsley, Liverpool, St Helens and Sefton and online, enabled our Children in Care teams to deliver a special treat to almost 500 of the most vulnerable children accessing our services.
The charity also received donations from Mersey Care staff, staff at local businesses including Santander, DTM Legal, Canter Levin and Berg Solicitors, JD Gyms and Grupo Antolin. Tesco in St Helens and Asda in Huyton also showed their support.
Kay McEneny, Nurse for Children in Care, said, “Our nurses had the opportunity to provide an Easter egg to the children in care living in children’s homes, with foster carers, family members and of course, our care leavers – even as adults, we all deserve a treat.
“All the children and young people were very grateful and the nurses received hugs and lots of happy faces from all when the eggs were delivered." More information can be found on the charity’s website.

Mersey Care supports campaign to combat misuse and overuse of antibiotics
The Trust is backing a campaign by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) aiming to encourage patients, service users and the public into taking control of their community’s health by using antibiotics wisely.
The UKHSA believes the misuse and overuse of antibiotics is increasing the risk of bacteria becoming more resistant, which puts some of the most vulnerable members of society at risk of serious illness.
They claim bacteria is becoming resistant to medicines at an increasing rate, turning once treatable infections into potentially life threatening conditions. This growing crisis - known as antimicrobial resistance (AMR) - is deepening health inequalities across our society. More information in our news section.
