We are committed to the personal development of all of our staff – and expect our staff to have commitment to their own learning.

As an employee of Mersey Care, you’ll be working in an environment where learning is valued. And we’ll be committed to your training and development from day one.

When you join, you’ll receive a structured induction programme and have the opportunity to attend a variety of skills-related courses.

Giving you clear and measurable objectives, we’ll ensure that you have a good understanding of the contribution we expect from you. To achieve this, you’ll have the full support of your manager, as well as the appropriate learning and development tools.

You’ll have a comprehensive appraisal within three months of joining the Trust, we’ll support and enable your career aspirations and we nurture and grow leadership skills in everyone.

We offer over 45 different apprenticeships, providing opportunities for new and existing members of staff to learn and obtain qualifications while continuing to earn, enhancing future career development and progression. More information can be found by emailing our apprenticeship team.

We actively support our international health professionals, ensuring they are developed and supported in fulfilling their potential during their time with Mersey Care.

Our new colleagues who join us from overseas are extremely important to the Trust and we supply candidates with a booklet prior to their starting date which included information about bank accounts, registering with a GP, information about their pay slips, cost of living in the UK and a point of contact for any advice and questions.

The 12 month supported learning programme will provide all newly qualified clinicians with a designated preceptor, who will support their development as they enter their first year of practice as a qualified clinician.

Preceptees will benefit from a bespoke training and support package to help them make the transition from student to qualified clinician, including a structured learning programme with protected time allocated to further develop their practice.

Our nursing app wins national digital award

A new digital app, designed by Mersey Care to provide all the information needed by newly registered nurses and healthcare professionals, has won a national digital award for innovation.

The Mersey Care Preceptorship App (Powered by PIOTA), won the Proven Concept category at the prestigious Nursing Times Digital Awards. The team will collect a trophy for their achievement at the Nursing Times Workforce Summit & Awards on 21 November. They were also a finalist in the Nursing Times 2023 general awards in the Technology and Data in Nursing category.

Our digital app, designed by our Preceptorship Development Leads Lyndsey Ford and Nichola Thomason app collates all the preceptorship information previously cascaded via physical paperwork, email, intranet and presentations, into one place. This content is aligned to the National preceptorship framework for nursing. Find out more about their award win.
