We are a multi professional team including specialist continence nurses and a physiotherapist and we are supported by a highly experienced health care assistant.

Our hours are Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4.30pm There are no clinicians available during weekends.

Our aim is to promote independence, maintain comfort and dignity.

  1. We provide advice, education and support to enable our patients to improve, resolve or manage their condition.
  2. We see patients in clinic settings across Southport, Formby and South Sefton.
  3. Home visits can be arranged for patients who are registered housebound.
  4. We provide clinical support and advice for residents in nursing and care homes across Southport, Formby and South Sefton.
  5. We provide training for members of the wider multidisciplinary team, for example, district nurses and carers.

To access our services, patients must be aged 18 and over, and registered with a Sefton GP. We accept referrals from GPs, social services, acute sector and members of the wider multidisciplinary team. We do not accept self referrals.

Patients may follow one or more of the following pathways: 

  • Self help including lifestyle changes, bladder training
  • Medication
  • Physiotherapy
  • Bowel management
  • Appropriate containment may be supplied after clinical assessment. These would be supplied via the home delivery service
  • Intermittent self catheterisation (ISC)
  • Shared care (patients with indwelling catheters)
  • Onward referral - after our holistic assessment, we may refer to other services as appropriate, for example, urology and colorectal (via GP)
  • We do direct referrals to frailty services, falls prevention and/or dieticians. 

Our clinicians are either in clinic or seeing patients so, for your convenience, we have a Single Point of Access (SPOA) phone service that is open Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm.

This phone line can be very busy so please leave a message if your are unable to get a reply. SPOA will take a message and forward this to the team, who will return the call. This may not be on the same day.

Following a clinical assessment, some patients may require a delivery of continence products and will be registered with NHS supply chain.

Patients are given an initial order of 12 weeks supply of products. For subsequent deliveries, patients will need to contact our ring back number to place their next order: If the products are not re-ordered they will not be delivered.You can re-order your products on 01704 387 276.

When the products are delivered, a delivery note will be enclosed which will give details of the next scheduled delivery date. Patients should call the ring back number approximately seven to 10 days prior to the scheduled delivery date. To place the order please leave your name and postcode. The 12 week supply will be delivered on the scheduled date as per the delivery note. 

Deliveries are made by an external agency whose drivers will be in unidentifiable vans and will carry identification. Deliveries are between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday. You will be given a date, but the service is unable to provide a specific time for delivery.

Patients who request a change to their products will need to request a reassessment from either our clinical staff or their district nurse. A message can be left on 01704 387276. Please leave your contact details including a contact number and we will arrange for a reassessment to be carried out. This can take up to six weeks.
