Animation release helps those in crisis for World Mental Health Day
Mersey Care is marking World Mental Health Day (10 October) with a new animation to help people spot signs of mental health struggles and prevent crisis.
The new animation demonstrates signs of a mental health crisis, helping people recognise when they or someone they care about may need extra support, and encourages those struggling to reach out before their issues escalate into a more serious condition.
Our Talking Therapies team is hosting a World Mental Health Day event at Liverpool Central Library on 10 October from 10am until 3.30pm. Full details are below, while The Life Rooms are holding wellbeing events in Walton and Southport for World Mental Health Day, with taster learning sessions based on the Five Ways to Wellbeing and free refreshments.

Talking Therapies release films on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and skills for wellbeing
Talking therapy services have released a series of new short films aimed at demystifying Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and helping people understand when and how they might access it as part of their mental health journey.
The films, presented by therapists from the service, explain that CBT is a Step 3 intervention - typically offered after individuals have tried Step 2 support, such as computerised CBT, without achieving meaningful recovery. Access to the three films is available on our website.

How Mersey Care aids integrated care in Liverpool and Sefton
Mersey Care has been instrumental in improving integrated care teams across Liverpool and Sefton, which helps support a population of 810,000 people, including 427,000 residents living in the most deprived communities and over 64,000 individuals managing five or more long term conditions.
They bring together members of the Integrated Neighbourhood Teams to meet the diverse needs of local people through holistic assessment and co-ordinated support. At the heart of the neighbourhood integration agenda, the Integrated Care Teams also provide place based care and their work is driving measurable improvements in health outcomes - helping communities thrive through collaboration, prevention and tailored local delivery.
The programme aims to enhance the overall quality of life for patients and service users by addressing their biological, psychological and social wellbeing. It seeks to improve the experience of care by reducing fragmentation across the system, creating a more seamless and co-ordinated approach. The impact of this work can be found on the National Association of Primary Care website.

Beyond Spectrum: supporting autistic women’s health
The Autism Spectrum Condition Health Facilitation Team held the Beyond Spectrum event at Willis House to support the physical and emotional wellbeing of autistic women - who face higher health risks than both non-autistic women and autistic men.
Key topics included: weight management advice, cancer screenings, smoking cessation, contraception, oral hygiene and menopause advice, which was particularly highlighted for its clarity and supportive tone. Smear tests were offered in both clinic and mobile units where the team created a safe, respectful space for open conversations.
Attendees valued practical advice, peer connection and the small, invitation only format. The feedback is vital in shaping future services and reinforces the importance of creating tailored autism informed health care that meets the real needs of autistic women.
