The hospital mental health liaison teams offer a 24 hour service based at the three A&E departments in Liverpool and Sefton. The teams provide support for people who are identified in A&E departments as having a mental health issue as well as a physical health problem.
Two specialist teams based at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital also support adults and older people who are inpatients and who display signs of a mental health problem, so they can be assessed and directed the appropriate services. A smaller team supports frail older people who need mental health support as part of their discharge plan.
